FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Residential (RTC) Program?

Our residential program is a highly structured, intensive program providing a comprehensive array of services. The campus includes residential cottages, therapy rooms, conference and group rooms, classrooms, a fully equipped music room, gymnasium, exercise room, swimming pool, play fields, BMX bike track and a Health Clinic all available to support the treatment goals of the youth. Youth and families develop the skills and capacity to manage mental health needs through our intensive support and guidance. Our multi-disciplinary staff partner with parent/legal guardian(s), family members, insurance case managers and community resources in a nurturing, therapeutic facility, using the most current evidence-based practices. Our program curriculum incorporates a structured 24 hour supervision with a youth/caregiver ratio average of one to three, and intensive mental health treatment services provided by Masters and/or Doctoral-level Clinicians and Psychiatrists. The program includes daily educational support, several hours of group treatment, and recreation and expressive arts therapies. Family and individual therapy, medication evaluation, and intensive case management are provided on an individualized basis throughout the week. The length of stay can range from 30 to 90 days, depending on each individual youth’s needs and insurance authorization.

What is the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)?

Our Partial Hospitalization program (PHP) supports youth 9-17 years old who live at home but struggle with managing mental health symptoms, risky behaviors, and behavioral problems. At the partial level of care, youth receive a full-day of treatment at Casa Pacifica, but continue to live at home. Partial hospitalization is an effective alternative to residential or inpatient treatment and may be appropriate for those transitioning from a residential treatment program or those who need more structure than a typical outpatient program or private psychotherapy

What is the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) support youth 9-17 years old who live at home and attend school but need extra support for mental health issues, emotion dysregulation, and behavioral issues. At the intensive outpatient level of care, youth receive a half-day of professional treatment at Casa Pacifica, but continue to live at home and go to school. The intensive outpatient approach is an effective alternative to residential or partial hospitalization programs, and may be appropriate for youth who need more structure than a typical outpatient program or private psychotherapy.

Are there meals provided?

All meals are provided at the RTC level of care including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Lunch and snacks are provided at the PHP level of care, and snacks are provided at the IOP level of care. Special diets and accommodations are able to be made upon request.

How do I get support as a parent?

Our program focuses on family therapy and family groups to help re-connect the child and parent. We offer a parent DBT group, a parent support group, family therapy, and a family activity group. We also encourage parents to develop a positive support system amongst each other.

How long is the program?

The length of stay depends on several factors that include the types of behaviors or difficulties that are being addressed, insurance authorization, and clinical input. We strive to work collaboratively with parent, the insurance provider, and the treatment team to determine the most appropriate length of stay. The program typically varies anywhere from 2-8 weeks.
