Co-Occurring Services

Pathways to Recovery Program

Many youth come to Casa Pacifica with exposure to and involvement with alcohol and drug use. Many have managed their mental health symptoms and traumatic stress by using alcohol or drugs. Some have developed patterns of substance use that require treatment.  Clinical staff are trained in specific empirically-proven harm reduction practices to address co-occurring disorders.  Youth who have been identified with co-occurring disorders are referred to our Pathways to Recovery Program, where they receive individual, group, and family treatment to help them develop the necessary awareness and coping skills to manage past use and develop sustainable relapse prevention plans.  When clients identify or demonstrate substance use, abuse, or dependence issues, individualized therapeutic interventions and services are provided. Staff utilize motivational interviewing techniques to help the client identify barriers to addressing substance or alcohol abuse or dependence issues and to identify the client’s stage of change (precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance, and relapse) in order to provide targeted interventions.  Staff work collaboratively with outside service providers and with AA, NA, Al-Anon and Alateen by offering on-site groups to support the healing process for youth and family members.
